Here's my info:
My name is Scott and I am a former owner of a medium-sized plastic card manufacturer based on the west coast. I was in the plastic card industry for the better part of two decades and handled everything from design work to production to fulfillment and managing a factory with just under 100 employees. My original website for collectors was based around people that collected casino-related cards (key cards, slot cards, etc.) and due to the demand at that site for a gift card section, this site was born. It has now grown into the world's largest repository for information about gift cards!
On a personal level, I now live in Iowa where my wife is originally from and have two young daughters that take up the majority of my time. In my spare time I also collect miniature Dodge Vipers and finally got a full-sized version a couple of years ago! I also collect US currency - mostly national banknotes from cities that I have a personal connection to.
That's it - let's hear about you!
Hi. Margaret here. Gift card collecting is the latest of my many collections over the years which have included stamps, vintage sewing items, glass jelly moulds, paper ephemera, small musical instruments, hats, kitchenalia, herbs. Now I think about it, gift cards are the newest thing I've ever collected. Luckily I have teenagers who get given a lot of them! I'm most interested in collecting Australian gift cards but am very happy to swap for those from other places as well.
Hi - My name is Amy and after starting as a cashier at Target I began collecting their gift cards and am hoping for a full set soon. I currently have over 300 cards since I started collecting in August of 2011 and am glad to have found others who enjoy collecting like I do.
Hi, my name is Frank. I live in the US. Years ago, every time I would get a phone card or a gift card, I wouldn't throw it out, instead I would save it and put it in my closet. I started seriously collecting gift cards about roughly 2 years ago. I love GCC because its an excellent reference and also because of the people also belong to it. Over the last 2 years I have dealt with many of you, and I have to say that you have all been very helpful to me. I have done business with many of the GCC members and hope to do so for many years to come. My top five gift cards to collect are(in order): 1. Red Robin ( Karen, I only need 3 more ), 2. Mcdonalds, 3.Tim Horton's, 4. Dunkin Donuts, 5. Coldwater Creek. I do collect many others from the US and all parts of the world. I do have plenty to trade. You can email me at: email@example.com and let the trading begin. Thank you.
Hi from Karen !
I first started collecting gift cards in the summer of 2006. I was cleaning out a drawer and found quite a few cards that I had received that had just been too pretty to throw away. I also collect a LOT of different things ~ with my major love being PEZ dispensers. On one of my PEZ forums we were discussing our "other collections" and one of my Canada PEZ friends mentioned that she had a collection of gift cards. We started swapping and then she found the GCC forum and sent me the link and the rest is history.
If I was forced to pick a favorite category of cards it would be restaurants and Toys R Us and Harley Davidson along with a LOT of other clothing companies.
I trade and sell gift cards and you can see all of my available cards on my Picasa page.
Thanks for reading!
Gift cards for sale:
Steve from Canada - just SOUTH of Detroit actually! I have collected Tim Horton gift cards as they were issued - since 2007. I have recently retired and trying to fill "holes" but don't know where to go to view cards that are available.
I have collected WRIF 101 stickers (Detroit radio station) for 35 years - they have been issuing them for over 40 years. My colleague set a "group" up in Yahoo groups for a bunch of us and ALL pictures of the band stickers/events/clings and other issues are there to see. I thought about the same for the Timcards.
I am enjoying the chase, but since Tim Horton's branched into the US, it has become much harder to track them. Also, I am more than happy to help out with Canadian issues of gift cards - if possible. (Target coming to canada soon!)
Hi. I am eribec6910, or better known as Lisa Causey, from the great palmetto state of South Carolina. Due to health issues, I am retrired after working almost 18 years in municipal government (Recreation Dept). I am married. I have two daughters, who are still in school and live at home along with our four dogs. I have always liked collecting; stamps, spoons, Pez. I started gift card collecting in the Fall of 2006 with the "Cars" K-mart gift cards and have been hooked ever since. I wish gift cards would have caught my eye sooner, but I have been able to build my collection due to a lot of people on this site and ebay. McDonalds is my favorite, especially the "Be My Guest" paper coupon cards. I also favor Dunkin Donuts, gas cards and any limited edition cards, especially sports themed.
Aprille from SoCal here!
I've been collecting giftcards since 2007 I think and have traded with many here. I collect lots of little pretty things besides cards: postage stamps, elongated coins(squished pennies), sewing buttons. I recently stopped collecting Disney pins but still have a lot. I am a landscaper and rose gardener so I always want cards from nurseries or with flowers on the them. I've been a Disneyland annual passholder since 1999 and am less than an hour away. My favorites are Disney, McDonalds, Target, The Container Store, Nordstrom, Souplantation and restaurant cards. I love to trade. Hi! Martin here, in Clearwater, Florida. I collect gift cards from any store, any country. I especially like to get them intact on backers. Due to other priorities, I haven't been able to keep up with my collecting and trading, but am working on catching up. Hope everyone had some great holidays!
Hello everyone! It's Crazy Michelle here from Steelers Nation. Hope everyone had a great holiday season and is off to a wonderful new year!
I really can't put my finger on one main company that I collect on. I pretty much try to collect all cards from all companies. However, I'm only interested in cards from the US and Canada, plus Starbucks cards from ANYWHERE. I have TONS of cards to trade, but no time to organize them for trading. Because when I'm not at my job, I'm either on eBay or sleeping.
I've been collecting gift cards for several years...can't remember exactly which year it was when I started, but my collection includes over 17,000 different cards.
