Is this how it is going to stay?

Let me start by saying I appreciate all the hard work for upgrading the site and I know due to whatever Technical things it was needed. BUT! is this how the format is going to stay? Because I am kind of bummed out by it. I visit this site EVERY DAY to check in on the new cards that were uploaded and the Discussion of new Cards or Trades or whatever. I am Very dis-appointed in the New Format first of all. As the crap on the side where I am guessing it is cards for sale on Ebay?? I am not sure as it really does not say. Well I could od without all that Clutter. Then when you are on the site you cannot get the whole page in your screen. You have to slide the page over to the left EVERY time you refresh or go to a new page VERY annoying.. As if it wasn't for the clutter on the left side I may not have to do that. Then there is where the site is VERY hard to Navigate now. You don't know what is new what is old, what was recently posted etc., etc., .. Then the Gallery. Well I only looked at the Target Cards and it seems very hard to understand as some cards have full numbers, some have names, some have things that say off backer, some say things that I don't think we need to even know about the card. Some are labeled "targeteaster" for example/. I mean what is that? Well I guess that is my two cents. Although I know it may have been time for an upgrade I am sad to see the old site go as it was so much more enjoyable and easier to find what you were looking for or to just browse. :( .. Sorry hate to be a downer. Thank you for providing the site and your hard work and up keep.

I'll address these one-by-one I guess....

The eBay listings on the side. These were on the old site too, but on the TOP. It was that big box at the top of the main page - much too intrusive! Maybe you just didn't see it? In order to keep this a free site, revenue has to come from somewhere. The ONLY ads right now are the eBay banner on the left and the small Google text at the bottom of the page. That's it. This nets a gross income of just under $35/month, not even enough to cover the server/domain/bandwidth. Compare that with any other site and I'm sure you'll appreciate it. I'd hardly refer to one banner as "all that clutter", but to each his own. There was an overwhelming concensus to not go to a paid membership site with no ads. Maybe I'll look into a different layout for those that want to pay a fee to get rid of all ads.

The size - The old site fit just under 800pixels wide, but since the vast majority of users have monitors that display wider than 1024pixels, we increased the size to accommodate those larger screens. Only 12% of users worldwide use 800x600 or lower (source: http://www.onestat.com/html/aboutus_pre ... tions.html) Over 50% use 1024 wide! If you'll notice, the extra area is NOT filled with ads, but more gallery space! I have also made sure this template views perfectly on iPads and iPhones!

As for the gallery descriptions, please read the announcement page. The titles of the cards are not complete and won't be for a while. Each one must be edited manually! If you'd like to help out, just say the word!

You refer to "what is new, what is old" before you talk about the gallery, so I assume you're referring to the forum? Every section has icons (just like the old board) where it tells you if there are new posts/etc. You also have the ability to subscribe to the gallery or forums or sections to be automatically notified of new posts and uploads!

I understand people in general don't like change, but I think if you take a moment and learn about the new features on this site that eventually you'll be won over. In the long run, this will be much easier to browse and find what you are looking for. We're going through the gallery card-by-card to make sure the information is consistent and up-to-date. A more secure solution was also needed to make sure your experience wasn't ruined by Viagra and Cialis ads (along with porn photos being uploaded to the gallery).

You know what? You were right about the width. It was going too far on 1024px wide screens, and it should now be fixed. If not, hit Shift-F5 on your computer to reload the site without using your cache.

I originally wanted the screen to resize to any screen size (which it did), but it did not play well with mobile devices. Believe it or not, nearly 20% of the visitors to this site now do so from Apple/Andriod devices!

I've played around with the site so much over the past 3 months, I backed up a template that was wider and never fixed it. Now it is! (Although only five columns in the gallery now instead of six...)

Thank You for taking the time to read and respond to my post. And Thank YOu for the Clarification of some things I questioned. And YES it does fit nicely on my computer screen now. . Thanks Again for the site and up keep and all of the above. and I would be glad to pay dues, donate, or whatever have you for upkeep or whatever for this site. I personally think you should have a link or something where you can take Donations.! That would be a very good thing. .. And I know you took a vote on it before but I don't see why a yearly Due of like $10 or even maybe $5 a year to offset time and costs couldn't be imposed if you were wanting to be able to upload pics and be able to access the Discussion Boards. ???? Just another thought. ;)
